Questions about tile flooring
Tomorrow I will be converting Mary Jane's substrate to textured tile!
It seems to hold heat better and not collect as many bacteriums as carpet.
Two serius questions though, Can an under tank heat mat heat through tile, and is the textured tile ok on their toes?

Re: Questions about tile flooring
The textured tile will help her grip better, and not slide everywhere.
As for heating through the tile, try the heat mat on the outside of the enclosure and see what it does. If it doesn't heat up high enough, you can put it between the tile and enclosure on the inside but you'll need to watch it close and make sure it doesn't get too hot.

Re: Questions about tile flooring
If youre using vinyl peel and stick you'll be fine using the uth properly under the tank like you Should. If you use ceramic or porcelain you'll have problems because they are insulators (think coffee mug here), if you use a natural stone like slate, marble, granite, soapstone, etc. make sure they are less than a half inch thick, glass included or you may need to upgrade to the next size uth for the higher wattage. I have high end vinyl simulated slate in my viv, textured, and use a 6x11 7 watt t-rex cobra heat mat and never an issue. The other day I actually had to turn it down cause it got to 101.4*F. Gotta love cobra heat mats, best on the market imo, and no more expensive that those piece of junk exo terras, or the little less junky zoomed.

Ive reused old slate roofing tiles in my viv and they conduct the heat brilliantly. my tiles are textured and my leo has had no problems

Thanks James, Nice to know that it won't hurt her toes.
Thanks Kermit, The tiles im using are about 1/4 of an inch thick. Just the basic 70 cent a pop tile to get rid of that bacterium collecting carpet.
