New Stella Pics! Empty New Stella Pics!

Post by Jess Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:05 am

Thought I'd show off some pictures of her! Very Happy She is growing pretty fast... She turned 5 months on the 16th, and she no weighs 30-something grams (I haven't weighed her for a little while, but last time she was like 33 g... She was only 20 g a month ago!)
She is pretty good about being held, and she is very committed to her mission of dubia roach genocide. She can put away 8 - 10 baby roaches and 5 mealies a night!

Can you see the "face" in her spots? :P

And this is the only thing I'm concerned about... She is getting little bubbles behind her arms. I've heard that they're from fat, too much protein, or too many supplements. But she doesn't look overweight to me, I've been giving her 2 waxies a week so she get some fat to balance out her protein, and I've only give her calcium in her dish and not on her feeders too. No matter what they won't go away, and I think they are getting a little bigger.

ROFL that picture with the rabbit sniffing, too cute New Stella Pics! 131791

Try feeding a bit less and see if the bubble goes away. From people that have done samples of those bubbles, they say they turned out to be liquid protein + fat.

Otherwise she looks pretty healthy to me.

they could be calcium bubbles. do you leave calcium in her tank all the time? if so i would take it out and only dust her food with a multivitamin every feeding with D3. i know Kermit has a loe with the bubbles and it takes along time for them to go away. but she is a super cute leo, her face is just beautiful!

Thanks everyone! Very Happy

Yup, I usually do leave her a calcium dish so I will take that out for a while and see if her bubbles go away.

And how much should I be feeding her? I'd like to feed mainly roaches since I have a ton of them LOL. But would 10 roaches a night and no mealies be OK?

@Mardy: Haha, Smudge has an obsession with lizards. Him and my beardie are besties. Wink

waxworms are VERY high in fat, i would deffinatly totally stop giving her waxworms. i have a couple animals that are getting these bubbles at the moment...

i also only feed my adults once every other day, and my babies every day...maybe feed every other day, instead of every day? im not an expert in leopards though, ive kept mostly snakes in my career as a herp keeper....others are probably better qualified, but i have been keeping herps for 25 years, so i do understand a little bit...been keeping them since i was nine years old, and love every second of it!
