Edge Introduction
Everyone, I'd like to make a introduction here for Edge, he is my new boy and will be finding out tomorrow the exact morph he is. I believe one of the store employees said he had enigma in him and another person at another gecko forum said, red stripe in him.
I'll try to get his age from the store owner as well when I get the morph from her tomorrow.
Here is my boy!

Re: Edge Introduction
Kodieh usually with Mack Snow you have to prove it out, and hypo means reduced or very little spotting. I am not an expert but I think he is gonna be a high yellow or a normal....lol...Jordan will eventually correct us both no doubt;)
Re: Edge Introduction
No way is there ANY enigma in that, sorry Brittany. Unless you see him walking a bit funny and gazing upwarrds..?
And red stripe? ... well where's the red stripe? lol.
Once you learn morphs inside out, you will be able to spot when people talk rubbish
Looks like a hypo. Maybe a mack snow, but has to be proven, so you have to assume he isn't.
He has a very cute face though, i love the 2nd picture

Thanks for your advice. He does look upwards a lot, now what do you mean by walking funny?
Some red stripe don't have the actual red tint, some just have the white line, his spots at the top of his head start out into a line but then tapper off.
For example, this gecko is labeled as a red stripe enigma and kinda resembles mine, however his color seems to be a little more shady, could be because of age and being breed?

I'll find out later today for sure whats in him, the people that told me at the store might not be as knowledgeable as the owner who actually gets in contact with the breeder.

Kodieh wrote:By walking funny, does he walk in circles?
When I first got him home and put him in the tank he looked confused and was picking up his feet and walking in circles and lifting his head, kinda like he doesn't know where to go or if he sees straight, then he stops and is fine.
He has done it a few times, I'll try and get a video later if I see him doing it.

Re: Edge Introduction
Well, then I'd personally say you've got the enigma symptoms but Jordan should have the final say in that.
Re: Edge Introduction
I changed his name to Edge, I'll give reason why later, one reason is because I like to make it different than others that have the name on their geckos, no offense, makes it easier that way.

Re: Edge Introduction
a close up of the eye would help determine the enigma. But i highly doubt it, it doesn't look like it. But then again the enigma gene has changed a lot in the last year or so since i worked with them.
The red stripe is polygenetic though (can act recessive and improved by albinism, but i'll not get into the details), to be a red stripe it needs the red stripe im afraid. Unless its just a stripe. It can come from two red stripes parents but if it doesnt have the red stripe most people will disregard it as a red stripe.
And the white stripe along the back is what is known as the dorsal stripe.
From how you explained the walk, it does sound enigma-y, so i could be wrong. (it happens).
If it is, you may want to re-consider going for your first choice of gecko that tangerine. Enigma gecko's are not something to take on lightly, and require a lot more care, attention and certain special needs, there only really recommended for well experienced keepers.

Understand Jordan.
Got back with the owner of the store, its a hypo mack snow!
Never had one before, so the whole weird walking and stuff just must be the change of tank, not being on tile before, just carpet, ect.
What do you reckon he would produce with my High Yellow and SHTCT?
Don't know if I'll ever breed or not, but now that I know whats exactly in him, its a lot safer to do.

Re: Edge Introduction
HA! congrats to Kodie!! lol.
Well mack snow is co-dominant. So whoever you breed him with you will get more mack snows. Also because he is hypo, you'll get varying amounts of hypomelanism in the offspring.
Wwith the high yellow you'll get more high yellows and hypos, plus some more high yellow/hypo mack snows.
and with shtct you'll maybe get some more super hypos, maybe some super hypo mack snows with varying amounts of carrot tail and tangerine.

Re: Edge Introduction
Once you get your geckos out of their last place, your now momma and seeing you means food, I love their smiles.
Even though their jaws are fixed like that to where they always look like smiling, he seemed depressed in that cage at the petstore with no love, to many neighbors, and no heat from below only above.

I know the feeling! I was working volunteer in a pet shop when I first met banana.. I fell in love with her as soon as i saw her when i was cleaning out. they had her on sand, with no moist hide and a red bulb for heat.
