Expanding the POTM contest?

Being that we are the Leopard Gecko Forum, I think we should have a Leopard Gecko of the Month. Then have a Herp(reptile) of the Month. In my opinion, the LGotM would be strictly for leopard geckos then the HotM would be for any and all reptiles including leopard's in case someone just has leo's.

Then maybe a simple picture of the month that's like scenery or something, for those of us who like to get out and get pictures of the world?

I think the Leo of the month is a great idea.

I think having the herp of the month is a bit over the top creating too many comps of the month.
So from your suggestions what i think would be a great thing to do would be to have the POTM as it is now exactly the same (allowed any animal including leo's) and then ALSO have a leo of the month specifically for leo's.

i think thats a good idea, just wasnt keen on herp of the month and picture of the month being just scenery, if you dont mind me saying.

Look forward to hearing other idea's too.

I didn't really mean strictly for scenery, but it was just a general idea. And like you said, we basically already have a herp of the month with our PotM.

one thing to take note of is that there is the new forum in the POTM section, called 'other Photo comps' im sure you've seen it,

but my point is ANYONE is allowedd to start a competition in there, so if you do want a competition specifically for scenery or herps etc you can do it in that section.

That's what sparked my suggestion was the expansion. ;D

I love the sound of the Leopard Gecko of the Month competition.. Kodie you should create it in the other photo competitions section because any member can start a competition there.. but you will need to think of a prize or something to make people want to get involved

The normal POTM should stay as it is because many members have other pets that are not herps.. and it's always nice to see all kinds of animals in the POTM

I would love to do a herp of the month, leopard gecko of the month and non-herp of the month but it will be too much all at once with the main POTM running and stuff plus i would need to think of a prize for everyone who won but i think go with the leopard gecko of the month

Yeahh that's why i haven't set up any of my little competition ideas yet I'm trying to think of something good that member can get for winning

since the discussion here is about not figuring out prizes;

If you wanna set up your own competition in the Other Competitoin section, then you can have LGF Points as the prize. The amount the iwnner recieves is up to you (as long as its reasonable).

You need to contact a member of staff first to have it authorised for your competition. Once a member of staff has said, 'yes that is fine', you can add that as a prize to your competition. Then when you have a winner to the competition, the giving out the points will be sorted.

Okay, we're drawing near to that time so I'll start sorting that.
