i have to take cyclone back to the petshop because i found out he has a prolapse so i wont see him again i might get another leo later

awww bless him, prolapses can be sorted out easily by a vet so theres no need to get rid of him completely

If you got him from like PetCo or something, you can tell them that after he's been treated you would like to re-adopt him.

Also places like petsmart will give you a voucher for the vet if the illness falls within their 14 day healthy pet guarantee. They're gonna have to treat him either way whether he's with you or back with them so there really is no need to return him if you don't want. You DO have options. Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear that. Don`t let this put you off them. This is not something that will happen all the time.

Pets at home sold me a leopard gecko that had impaction (R.I.P) and because I was so naive and new to the reptile world, I believed them when they said it was so skinny because it was a baby!! When I confonted them about it they gave me a new gecko (Hes is doing very well!!!) and a £10 gift voucher and they also replaced all of their leopad gecko's substrate from sand to reptile carpet

What you have to understand with shops like that, it isnt their livelihood and sometimes do not know all that they should to look after reptiles! Just the other day I complained to the manager because the leos and beardies had either no water or GREEN water!!! Ugh...

The best place to get your leo from is most likely a specialist pet store (like the one I work at) or a breeder

I also, not to sound like a jerk but to b honestly true to all new leopard gecko owners and all pets in general, you need to be aware that if the time comes you have to take your animal to the vet. Say for example this gecko yu just got, was not recent and you had it for awhile, they would not take it back because whatever happened in the (for example year) is not their fault(a lot of health problems are, but for example the gecko you have is healthy for a year and gets sick). In this example, its either you take the animal to the vet, it passes away, or you do not buy one until you know you have a way to pay a vet bill.

This is not to be a jerk, but for the saftey and well being of your animal, it is not fair to them that you cannot afford to save its life, its your decision to not put it in a situation that its life is not at stake because you don;t have the money.

I hope I didn't hurt your feelings, but its every pet owner, from the small tree frogs to horses have to take serious, before you get an animal, always make sure they will be able to get vet help if the time comes.
