Does anyone know if travertine is suitable as a tile for my viv's? i would imagine it is as its polished natural stone and to my knowledge nothing else added. has anyone tried it? travertine is quite thick usually about 15mm at lowest would this effect my UTH?

I have a tile in my viv, but I had to put the the UTH into the tank rather than under it... But its under the tile and it seems to work well Smile

Been out this morning and got some travertine effect cermamics to maintain the conductivity (also on special so i can tile/grout both viv's for under a tenner) my viv's are quite thick wood so my UTH are already located inside the viv will get it set up today and post my results later on Smile

Polished stone it's not recommended usually as your leo will have no traction and could develop splayed legs. You want something with texture generally. We go into great detail in the proper housing sticky about the different tiles that can be used as well as their pros and cons. Once you get into a tile that is more than a half inch thick you could run the risk of it afecting your uth output and should bump up to the next wattge size. Hope some of this helps Very Happy

So is ceramic tile okay as long as it has small smooth ridges?

I've finished rambo's tonight tiled right across the enclosure, and i measured up so well i dont have to grout it Smile temperature seems to be nice and uniform 93 across the warm area so 9mm ceramic/7W heat matt works well for anyone thinking of tiles Smile i went to do amber's viv and she popped out looking like a blazing blizzard (she is infact, an aptor) so i think il leave her be until she's finished her shed just incase she gets stressed out
