Mealworms storage
i oredered a load of mealworms and put em in a box and the into the fridge, and once a week or more i would take em out to feed them.
Anyway the ones at the bottom werent getting any food and so died off so about half was wasted.
Anyway my question is, how do you store large quantities of feeders?
I had the same problem with storing superworms too (obviously not in the fridge though)

Re: Mealworms storage
Glad someone else has experienced it. Yup im gonna try splitting them so its less in one tub, but it takes up a lot more room that way.
will let you know how it goes for me too haha.

Re: Mealworms storage
I would honestly try shallower tubs as well more tubs. Something long and low that you can stack like those gladware disposeable tupperware dishes designed for sandwiches (or whatever the UK equivelant is).
Something like this would be great too but would take up more room in the fridge:
Emsa Clip & Close Storage Container, Rectangular Shallow 23 Ounce
When you take them out to feed them make sure you leave them out for a good 24 hours so ALL the mealies wake up and eat. The ones at the bottom of the tub are going to be under a lot more weight and slower to wake up. Run your hand thru the tub to mix them all around a couple of times during that 24 hours to make sure they all got up and disturbed. You really don't need to take them out more than once every 2 weeks to feed them, and the ones you intend to wakeup and gutload before feeding should have a good 48 hours in my opinion to wake and gutload before feeding.
Supers shouldn't be as hard to care for because they'll keep forever as long as you feed them. I have some of the original supers I got when I first got Eros back in October... those suckers are darn near 4 inches long

Re: Mealworms storage
You won't be buying any soon, will you Jordan? I'm not that keen on sharing my fridge with them (the freezer already needs refilling with mice!)
