Re: Handling
No problem Jess. Leopards can be handled but they take some time to get used to it. Most tolerate it well and the more that you do handle them the more used to it they get. On the rare occassion you get one that is hard to handle but that is rare. I have 30 leos in my house right now and only one I need to be cautious with and really that is because he has shedding issues. Also, the younger they are the harder they are to handle, makes sense, babies are more scared and nervous than adults.

PS- At least you don't have an ever hungry, disaster causing, keyboard eating parrot!

Re: Handling
Also, remember, when you first get your leo, to not handle it for about a week, to let it settle into its new environment stress free.

Re: Handling
Small steps, as well, you dont want to just grab them about the midsection and pull them out. Make it their idea to get in your hand. ;D
How to pick up and hold them
Also how do you pick them up and hold them??

Re: Handling
Just simply 'cup' your hand around the middle of their body.. and lift them out of the tank.. then place them on a flat hand. If they are young and fast, I would suggest just doing this inside the tank
Re: Handling
picking them up by the shoulders generally works too. thats how I got taught during my animal management course
