Biting during feeding?
Hello,
I was feeding rambo tonight, or i was about to. i showed him the mealworm but didnt have a good hold so dropped it back into the container and decided to move him across his viv into some space when i put my hand out for him to walk onto he tried to bite me, he missed (which he does alot - missing feed not me that is!) is this just confusion because i took the worm away and then offered my hand? he went on to eat 6 mealworms right after that and i just left him alone once he was done.
Thanks!

Re: Biting during feeding?
He was in hunt mode when he bit you. I started using long tongs to "hand" feed them because of this. I don't want them to associate my fingers with food. You can usually pick them up at a pet store for about 10.00 CAN. That would be my best suggestion.
Re: Biting during feeding?
Not only was he in feeding mode but you also smelled like a mealworm not like you. They rely on smell moreso than vision (vision is more for zeroing in on prey) plus it sounds like with his hit and miss feeding habits tells me he gets pretty heightened when it comes to food. Double whammy... I use tweezers to drop worms in front of eros. You really don't want them biting the tongs/tweezers or they could hurt themselves then next thing you know a little feeding booboo is turning into mouthrot.
Re: Biting during feeding?
I like to some times hand feed, but I wouldn't want to get into a predicament of my leo's only eating when it's in my hand. Call me paranoid!
Re: Biting during feeding?
Banana nevers bites me when I feed her.. I just drop a superworm in front of her.. and she won't eat it unless it moves ALOT. sooo i have to wiggle it with my fingers sometimes. I used to use tweezer though but I lost them :P
Re: Biting during feeding?
I've been using tweezers to feed rambo most of the time, i think he must have been really hungry as he only ate 1 worm the night before and then 6 last night ! lucky he didnt actually bite me he missed as him aim is terrible. il put it down to human error and get him out once hes finished his feed later tonight
Thanks
