Check your laybox carefully
A few days ago one of our gravid females laid two eggs. We didn't see the eggs initially, and would never have checked until we noticed this female was behaving differently. She had gone off food for a couple of weeks, but when I approached the tank she got very excited, which usually means she wanted to eat. So after feeding her, I figured she had laid her eggs.
I checked all over the tank but couldn't find the eggs, I was getting really frustrated, thinking the female may have absorbed the eggs. Then I noticed the laybox medium was packed in pretty neatly and tight. So figured why not, might as well dig in and see if there's anything under the coco fiber. After sifting through it, here's what we found:
Uncovering a bit more:
Yup they were eggs! Fully buried under coco fiber! Here's one of the eggs unearthed:
Moral of the story is, check your laybox carefully, and always be observant. I would not have dug into the laybox had I not noticed a change in her behavior. Usually I just peek in and see if I see the eggs. I would've easily missed them. Now both eggs are incubating, here's to hope for fertile eggs

Re: Check your laybox carefully
If I ever get into leopard gecko breeding, I will follow your advice and always check my laybox I'm so glad you spotted them and I hope they are fertile Good luck!
Re: Check your laybox carefully
I check my lay boxes three times a day. I know, a little obsessive but I have already learned my lesson this way, except mine were too dried out and beyond saving. Great advice Mardy!!
Re: Check your laybox carefully
I check my laybox so many times a day its crazy. XD But I'm a first time breeder so I'm a little over excited lol.

Re: Check your laybox carefully
lol I check multiple times a day also, sometimes thinking it may bug the geckos too much
In this case though, I checked earlier and didn't see anything. I had to dig under the coco fiber to find the eggs. So if you do check the laybox, check to see if it has been dug & moved. They apparently can pack the eggs in pretty well after laying

Re: Check your laybox carefully
More examples of nicely packed in eggs, only noticed it tonight because she wanted to eat. That's such a great indicator, when a female that you know are close to lay then all of a sudden wanting to eat a cow.
At first glance, the laybox, looking normal.
Fool me once.. so I looked under just in case...
Ah ha, there you are
Two healthy eggs, one looking to be pretty large. Feeling bad for the gecko just looking at it.
So as you can see, they are very good at covering their tracks. Check your laybox carefully

Hi Mardy,
What is that egg container you are using, it looks just the right size.
