Re: underground hide
My local reptile shop has the foam ones Zoo Med or Exoterra sells, and the geckos seem to like it. Just make sure you take all precautions against accidental ingestion.
Re: underground hide
Not only do you want to avoid parts your leo could ingest but also make the tunnels large enough for an adult sized leo to be able to turn around in and seal the insides of the tunnels so that he can't scratch off the styrofoam bits.
Re: underground hide
what should i seal it with im going to grout it

Re: underground hide
Usually these home made things are coated with grout then covered with modge podge to seal them. You can find that at most craft stores. Also you want to use sanded grout. It works much better in moist environments and won't crumble like regular grout.
Re: underground hide
Modge Podge or watered down PVA glue is a good non toxic sealer for these projects.
Re: underground hide
so sand is the best right cus i got sanded an for the modge podge i can use this http://www.michaels.com/Mod-Podge%C2%AE-Matte/cp0371,default,pd.html?start=10&cgid=products-generalcrafts-modpodge

Re: underground hide
Several people have made these for their leos with out issue. Just follow the layout becca did in her thread and you'll be fine.
Re: underground hide
I did mine that way and it worked fine. They haven't been able to scratch at the foam at all. You grout it with a good thick layer or two, and then seal the whole thing with modge podge (or watered down PVA glue). Works great (and makes it nice and shiny). Also paint the whole project after grouting but before modge podging it if you want.

Re: underground hide
It looks awesome. Great idea! I may have to steal it for one of my future projects
Just make sure the leo has adequate space for a hot side (1/3rd of the floor covered by heat mat).
