shedding problems may be down to the fact he is on sand. And the lump could be an impacted stomach or digestive tract?

the boy/young lad is only a student and cant afford the prices his vets charge and he couldn't find anyone/organisation that would help him pay.

he should send me some pics later of the lump and a recent pic of the gecko as the one i put on here is 2yrs old and the gecko is now 4yrs old, when i get the pics i'll put one on here if they are any good.

Is he sure the lump isn't gout or psudo-gout? Is it on the leg's long bone or closer to the foot and joints? A pic would really be helpful when you can get one.

Wow that's a pretty big lump. Keep in mind tho that there is a difference between gout and psudo-gout. Gout is caused by excessive uric acid whereas psudo-gout is caused by calcium (similar to calcium deposits). Google it for more info. It's quite fascinating.

Things are slightly worse than i thought with this guy, the growth isn't on his leg as the lad told me it is on his belly on the right side just in front of his back leg. here's some pics of him and his lump.

Holy (iinsert words I can't say here)!!!!!! That looks horrible. My very first instinct when I saw that it looks red is that it is a pocket of infection!! Oh my....I am sorry but I am a little shocked. I don't know anything about stuff like this, that's why I pay my vet, but this poor guy looks like he's gotta be hurting and needs a vet(which I am sure you already know).

yeah i didn't know what to say when the lad delivered him to me today, i knew he had a lump but wasn't sure how bad it was going to be, my first thought was abcess as its hard. i'll be taking to him to the vet on saturday afternoon as have to take a snake for a anti-biotic injection.
whats more shocking is the lad had taken him to a vet 3months ago but couldn't afford the opperation and now he's off traveling he gave the leo to me for nothing.

The lad that gave you that gecko is a real piece of $*&@. Anywho... the lump does look bad. It could be an abcess, a cyst, a tumor or just a simple fatty nodule. Since it'snot broken open or weeping and has been like that for some time I'd tend to rule out abcess since those are generally puss filled infection type nodules and this thing hasn't broken open in 3 months time... it would have by now if it were an abcess. It looks like a solid ball of fatty tissue so hoping for a cyst or fatty tumor type deposit. A vet is going to have to asperate some fluid out of it to determine what kind of lump it is. It doesn't look like the leo messes with it, rubbing on stuff, scratching at it or the like so I doubt it is causing him much pain but I do bet it is annoying as hell and afects his gait. Honestly I'm a little more concerned about the dried blood looking stuff around his vent... gotta love sand...

:'( that is soo upsetting to see. I'm soo angry at this lad who's gecko it is. I'm a student and I would do everything in my power to raise some money for the vets if my pet had something like that :O i would sell everything i own. Poor little gecko Sad i hope he gets better.

I can't tell from the picture fully, but i think that is the usual Preanal pore secretion. Seen a couple of vents like that and it means nothing.

As i say i can't tell properly, so not ruling it out. Sorry for the contradiction.

It doesn't seem to painful but i've tryied to not touch it and handle him gently as he's not to sure of me yet.

Im hoping its a cyst or fatty tumor that can be easily sorted out as i really dont have the money for major expense but hopefully my vet will do me a good deal.

I was more p***** off that the lad said he couldn't afford to opperate and then turned up driving a 2007 plate peugot 307cc soft top.

Poor guy is missing some of his toes and has retained shed on the others, and by his vent he has bloody/retained shed on his pores where the lad had tryied to get it off, he also had retained shed on the front of his top jaw which i got off after the lad had gone.

Hi guys,

Quick update on lovely lumpy Ken. He saw the vet this afternoon and was told he has a large abcess that need removing via surgery, he will be having his operation on Wednesday 4th may at 10am. At the same time the vet will be cleaning up his anal pores of retained shed and his toes.

Now just got to find the money to pay my vet lol
