Regurgitated mealies
My girl is three years old with no history of problems. She has a heating pad and a light (I wasn't really using it for a bit of time now its on). Her main diet is mealies, occasional defrosted crickets and wax worms. I was cleaning out her cage the other day and I noticed either regurgitated and/or undigested mealworms. They were dark and wet around the worms. What worries me is I fed her a few days ago, so it seems too long for her to just be overeating. She has never had any problems with mealies ever and just once I found a cricket that was half digested. Her tummy does not feel weird and does have the normal blue of the stomach (small area). She is on a paper towel/paper bag substrate. I turned on the light again for her. I gave her a little veggie oil yesterday and gave her a warm soak today. Tomorrow I will give her some wax worms and see what happens. Is this normal? Should I be really worried

Re: Regurgitated mealies
Hi there and sorry to hear you're having problems but to answer your question, no regurgitation is not really normal for a healthy adult leo. Sometimes juvies can eat too much or too fast and regurg but this is a learning process for them on food management. Learn by your mistakes kinda thing. If you couldplease fill out the care questionaire in the health section stickies so that we have all the info e need to help you with your leo. question... what kind of light are you using and why? Also why are you giving veggie oil? Is she contipated? Leos are insect eaters and aren't equipped to digest plant matter so using veggie oil is kinda counter productive. Mineral oil is more productive for constipated leo. You really do need o offer appropriately sized feeders imo. A 3 yr old leo should be on superworms. Less shell to meat ratio, easy to care for and you only need to feed 2-4 per feeding. For a 3 yr old leo feeding every other day is fine. No need to freak out, this isn't critical but we really do need the care questionaire to see where any other problems may be.

I gave her veggie oil just in case she was impacted. I'll feed her less of the mealies over the next few days and see how she does. Thankfully she had a fecal in her cage today. I'll take the health quiz and thank you for your info.

Re: Regurgitated mealies
Well its good you got a poo. You might want to cconsider taking it to the vet to check for parasites. Parasites can sometimes cause regurgitation, but we woul be a lot better equipped to make an eduated guess as to the cause of the regurge if you would fill out the care questionaire, its not a quiz, its a sheet that asks questions about your husbandry. Plz fill it out whenever you have a health question. Knowing the temps in your cage, the suppliments you use etc. Can greatly influence what could be wrong with your leo.
