Sparkling??? O.o

ok soo... my little leo has something strange going on with her skin, on the back of her right shoulder and on her face there are these strange little specs that are about the size of fine salt, almost like small glitter, but they are actually indented into her skin. at first i thought it looked like scaring like if she got in a fight with anohter leo, especially the mark on her face it almost looks like a leo bit her, i tried taking pictures but my camera sucks and so you can barely see them.






as you can see it looks like little teeth marks on her face.... but seeing how i don't have any other leo's this is rather strange... her back is more sparkly but sadly these next pictures you cant see anything but the sparkling, depending on the light they look like indented specs in her skin and are a brown color.



any idea on what this could possibly be??

Pretty~! Did she just freshly shed? I would think it would just be a "look, Ma! New scales!" shine. Or if she went into her moist hide and the sparkles are extra moisture?

Either way, it looks pretty neat. I'm not experienced in diagnosing leos, and I'm not a vet, but I don't think sparkling is something to be concerned about...

...unless she's a part-time exotic dancer. Then you should show concern.

haha XD her name is charm so maybe she is trying to be more like a little golden sparkly charm lol its nothing that can be wiped off that's for sure, she is a sweetie and lets me touch her and pet her all over, so i have tried brushing it off but it is definitely stuck on her, but she might have just shed so that is a possibility.

Any changes in skin texture/color/scale shape that lasts more than 48 hours should be considered a concern regardless if it looks pretty (which I'm sure it does. My pc is in the shop on using my android). First thing id be thinking is prematurly shed skin... the new premature skin revealed often looks shinier than the rest of the skin and may have a tacky texture. It could appear to "shine" if the light hits it the right way. Next thing I would think of is some type of bacterial/viral infection/presence that might possibly produce some type of biolumenescent residue. Some molds are known to do this. It could also be scarring from bites (feeders or otherwise) but with a lack of cagemate and the sudden onset of the problem, idk. It could be nothing at all aisde of a strange morph of the scales,could be permanent, could change after the next shed.

Please fill out the care questionaire (its. Sticky in the health section. It should be filled out everytime anyone asks a health question) this way we can make sure there arent any other husbandry issues that could be causing your issues. Obviously a vet visit is always in order any time there's a health question/issue with any pet, all we can do is offer our opinion.

this happen to my wifes gecko looks like small parts of dry skin not yet shead reflecting light pretty neet really

I FINALLY FOUND OUT WHAT THIS IS!! so i was cleaning charms cage out the other day only to find what looked like tiny shards of glass, with closer inspection i found that her light has a warning sticker on the shade of the clamp lamp and for some reason a thin layer of clear plastic had melted off and had flaked into charms cage, i use under the watt limit so why it melted i have no idea seeing how it doesn't seem to be something you can take off easily. so poor little charm must have had some melt onto her skin and leave those sparkly marks on her needless to say i made sure to get all that crap off before placing her back into her nice clean cage.

Why do you have a light in her cage anyway?

its a ceramic heat emitter bulb, i'm in a cold basement and she needs it to keep her cage warm enough.

Ok, I assume that you have the necessary under tank heater as well? Pretty scary what happened and something everyone who uses heat lamps should look out for. At least Mystic is fine and I am sure those sparkly bits will come off with future sheds.

yes i do have a uth, and she seems so have shed most of it off already luckily. at least now if people notice their leo sparkling they will know what to look for.
