Hi from Kent Uk
Hi my name is Gavin,
I live in the Uk in sunny Kent.
My current main hobby is keeping Lake Malawi Cichlids in my Fish room but I an considering venturing into Gecko keeping?
The main reason is i hava a sectioned off tank with one area that has a crack in the base so i cannot keep fish in it and rather than repair it as it is still very solid just dont want to risk water in it! and it seems a perfect opportunity to try something new!
the tank is 24"x16x18 so im guessing I could keep a leopard gecko in it?
I learnt a lot about my current hobby from forums so hope i can do the same about this new one!

Re: Hi from Kent Uk
Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy your time here and I hope we can answer any and all questions you have! My name is Kathryn!
I have to tell you, I used to be a fish keeper myself, and once I started reptiles my fish collection is dwindling. I am now fully reptile stocked. :P Just like fish keeping, reptiles are addicting so be prepared lol!
That tank is a great size! It's about 30 gallons (US). The minimum tank size is 10 gallons, but 20+ is generally recommended. That is a superb size! Are you planning on getting a juvie or adult? If you are getting an adult you may want to block off part of the tank, as the baby may feel overwhelmed with too much space at first. As it gets older you'd be able to take the divider out.
To get you started I will send you a few links to stickies created by members that will help you learn about leos.
How to set up and keep your leo's tank: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
What to feed your leo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Selecting a healthy leo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Gecko shedding guide: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Natural Habitat Pictures: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The last one is more for interest sake. We all found those pictures cool :P
Once you've read those, if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Welcome to the forum! If you get a leopard gecko, it sounds like he's going to be spoiled with that big tank! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Cool I'm in Maidstone!
Thinking of building a wood wall and base into the tank so as not to spook him or her with the fish next door
this is one of my 6 foot tanks
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Awesome tank! Looks really cool! And the fish are really pretty!
I like gramma fish (found out about them from Sarah/gothicgurrrl), pea puffers and betta fish!
