LGF Calendar Empty LGF Calendar

Post by Jordan Wed Sep 07, 2011 12:08 pm

Today you will see the addition of a new button in your navbar which says Calendar. (if your a follower of LGF on facebook then you'll maybe know a bit about what this is)

The LGF Calendar is a great page, which is going to be great ofr adding all sort of events and listings on it.

- Dates like the start, voting time and finish of POTM can be put on there.
- Weekly Quiz times can be put in the calendar
- Important forum dates
- Dates of reptiles shows all over the world
- Birthdays are automatically put in.

And the best bit is, ANYONE can add an event in to the calendar. So we need your help to fill it up with lots and lots of dates for reptile shows and herp events and forum events!

Here are the pictures which went out on facebook about a week ago:
(if you want to get the sneak peeks and know before everyone else then follow us on facebook)

This is the calendar page, which you'll see when you click on calendar.

This is the second half of the same page. You can see brthdays are already in the calendar. When you hover your moouse over an event you will see more details. Click on the event for even more details.

This image shows the little mini calendar on the left side. Just a nice easy way to keep track of events without having to visit he calendar page all the time.

Now there are three ways to add an event:
- You can go to the calendar page, find the right day your event is on which you want to add and press the + icon. You will see that adding an event is just like posting a thread.
- You can go to the calendar page, and scroll to the bottom and click 'Add an Event'. You will see the same thing, but you will need to specify a date and time.
- Or you can visit the new forum called 'Calendar Events' which is under 'Events and Meetings' and create a new thread, and scroll down, to where it says 'Calendar Event' and set a date and time. Once you post your thread it will be included in the calendar.

All calendar events are threads in the 'Calendar Events' forum. So when you make a calendar event, it will be a thread in that section and vice versa. So you will always know when something new has been added to the calendar, as the 'Calendar Events' thread will show up as new.
When you visit the calendar page and click on an event, it will take you to the thread containing more details.

The clever thing about the calendar is that it is basically a different way of laying out threads. Rather than laying them out in a list, they are now laid out on a calendar grid in chronological order.

I hope everyone enjoys this new feature. It should be very helpful once it begins to get filled. Smile

Great! Thanks, Smile

An LGF Points ststem will be worked out with the calendar soon.
It will likely be 5 points for adding an event.
