Re: New gecko
This leopard gecko was quarantined, by the previous owner. She took the geckos she wanted to sell and put them into seperate sweat boxes and monitored them. They've been in there atleast 2.5 months
She is very healthy, poos and sheds well. So I didn't see much of a problem there.

Re: New gecko
That was my worry, as I didn't have the facilities to quaratine But she assured me that she had quarantined them and when I went to get the leo, she was on paper towels with icecream tub for hides etc on her own

Re: New gecko
Well the father was more leaning towards high yellow than normal morpth.. and the woman said the mother was albino... When I saw her she looked like this: http://leopardgeckowiki.com/index.php?title=File:RAPTOR.jpg with more faded spots

Re: New gecko
Very pretty leos but I hope all 3 don't live in that small tub together as that is much too small for more than 1 leo.
Re: New gecko
Yes, that does seem small. I have three together but they are in a 40 long so they can get way out of each others way. In a tub I only ever house one.

Also people are inhearantly liars when the opportunity for money is on the table. Id never trust smeones word on the quarantine thing... its not worth the risk to your collection to forgoe proper quarantine. If proper space/resources is an isue, maybe you should wait a bit until you can properly house them seperately just in case they decide they don't get along or if the new one does show signs of illness. It will be very difficult to know who's having a runny poo or regurging when their in a group like that.
Re: New gecko
+1 on all Kel just said. Not trying to put you off at all, just don't want you to lose all your leos because of one.
Re: New gecko
Quarantining is also a great for YOU to observe the gecko and for YOU to learn all the patterns of its poo's and shedding. I'm afraid even if the breeder did put it in a seperate tub with his set up, that not quarantining.
And cmon guys it looks like they are just in that tub for the picture.
And if i am right on this, and they have been put in that tub just for a picture... then that tub will do for quarantining the new one.
Sure its a little small, but for a 2 month quarantine period it will be fine.

Re: New gecko
Kind of a little late now tho that they've all been together. Quarintine is moot at this juncture. Just keep a close eye on everyone and at the first sign of problems please seperate.
Re: New gecko
That tub you can see in the photos looks like a 'geo tank'.. which is a little tank with a ventilated lid that you use to transport small animals or put them into one when you are cleaning out their proper tanks. I'm sure she just put them in there for the photo my banana goes into a geo tank when I clean her tank out I have one for banana.. and one for all my jirds and my hamster

The disease passing part of quarantine is moot, but it will always be beneficial to observe and learn the patterns of the new gecko. Take weight checks and record poops and sheds. So you know what its 'norm' is.
Re: New gecko
Yes Jordan you are right those are still very reilivant reasons to quarantine... my bad...
Re: New gecko
They were in that tub cos I was cleaning them out! She's in quarantine now as I got hold of a viv! I just got caught up in the moment and was very naive! Sorry guys
