How much coco fibre
Hi. I have just got a new 2.6ltr plastic storage box and some coco fibre to do a moist hide for my gecko. Just wondering, once I've turned it upside down and cut the hole how much coco fibre I need to put in there for her? I don't want to under fill or over fill it. Also do I just give it a spray every day, and is it best to go on the hot side or cooler side?

There's no set amount you need to use, just put enough so they can dig a bit and still lay in it. It's a moist hide so put it on the warm side, somewhere warm, doesn't have to be the hottest spot. Moist it enough so it gives a sauna effect in it, and it should last you a few days before you have to re-moist the coco fiber.
Coco fiber absorb water very well so you can spray it or just run it under water and use your hand to sift through it.

I would say a layer just a couple inches deep should suffice. You can measure how thich your leo is and make it just about that deep, so if your leo is 2 inches from belly to back, that's likely a good depth. Also if you're using coco fiber you'll likely want to keep the hide right side up so it doesn't all spill out if you pick it up and the top comes off.

I've finished doing it. Could you have a quick look at the pictures to see if it's ok?

That'll work fine, but if your gecko likes to dig, she might make a mess. You can give that a try for now, but if she makes a mess, you may want to try a new container with a hole up top instead.

As in the lid? I do have another, it came as a pack of two. She's been in it. But trying to figure it out I think, as she wasn't in long.

Yeah you can have a hole on the lid, like this:
But you can give what you have a try. If she doesn't dig and isn't messy, it may work fine.

Ahhh fair enough, didn't think of that. Is paper towel better for the hide than coco fibre, or is it just a personnel preference?

Re: How much coco fibre
Mostly personal preference. Paper towels are best when you want to avoid impaction issues, so they're a must for younger geckos. Some like to use them for males that don't require a laybox. Paper towels are just cleaner and have zero impaction risk.
Coco fiber is commonly used as laybox medium for female breeders, so people use it and the hide ends up being both a moist hide & laybox. We use coco fiber here for females.
