Your Input: Topic Rating, New section.

Hey everyone. I'm looking for your input and opinions on something before I start work on a new feature. No point making it if nobody wants it

So I'm wondering if people would appreciate a topic rating system. A system in which you can rate a topic, (probably a star system) depending on how useful or informative it is.
I guess I'd also maybe make a new sidebar module, 'Top Rated Threads' or such.
Any feedback on this would be much appreciated before I continue, also, any idea's of your own are welcome too.

I also plan to add very shortly an Advertising forum. A section of the forum where breeders can post a thread about their business (anything reptile related) and use it to keep members informed of updates, special offers, discounts, new stock etc. If you think this would be a neat idea or handy for your business let me know and it may be added soon.

The new "latest topic" thing has been very useful, it's practically all I use these days when looking at what's new and what's being discussed. I don't know if a rating system for threads will be useful. Some may like it, I most likely won't use it much.

Anything ratings related could potentially lead to cliques or making some people feel bad if they posted something and get ignored. But eh that's just my opinion

I think it would be a good idea.
It would help show important threads, but the threads that aren't quite important enough to be stickies. Know what I mean? lol

Thats a great idea! It would let new people know what topic could be the most helpfull to them.

Without explaining to a new member that we are high rating threads due to how helpful the thread was, I don't think they'd see it that way specifically.
