normal shedding? Empty normal shedding?

Post by mjkaylee Fri Dec 23, 2011 4:08 am

So last night while feeding Marmalade the kids commented on how white she was! So I told them she was ready to shed her skin and that she would be brighter tomorrow!

HAHA So anyways this morning we got up and she had trashed her tank and was hiding in the moist hide. We also found some shed.(we left it in the tank) Is it normal for them to trash the tank? do they roll around?

Her color has changed a little and my oldest is excited as she thinks Marmalade has freckles like her!Very Happy

Completely normal. When they shed they rub their head, body, tails, etc.. against anything they can rub against. Even though you have a moist hide for them, they sometimes still will go around and rub against other items in the tank.

Depending on how she trashed the tank you might want to consider getting heavier tank decor, and it's likely normal for her, depends on the next shed, if she trashes things again. Eros doesn't destroy his viv when he sheds but we also have a lot of heavy natural rock and wood in there too to rub on. your daughters going to love all the spots that come in. your leo will look totally different after a year.

Ya I think we will get more wood and rocks in the tank. She really likes her green hut but it is very light. She has one log hut and then a plastic moist hut. So plastic was moved around and paper towels were all rolled up.

When will she be ready to eat again?

I usually skip the next feeding or 2 after a shed. Thats a pretty big meal.

my girl is shedding as we speak haha. she keeps pushing everything around trying to get it off but nothing is really "rough" enough to help and her moist hide is extra moist right now, i put a sponge in there to help her out and its soo cute to watch her rub against it spinning in circles haha
