Experimental Humidity Helper for Dubia Roaches Empty Experimental Humidity Helper for Dubia Roaches

Post by asianpersuasion Mon Oct 24, 2011 7:25 am

So i have had my dubia's for 3 days now and noticed that my humidity in there tub has been about 40% which isnt bad but i want it to be higher to promote better breeding so i came up with this little idea.

First i got normal cotton balls a little bucket of warm water my hot glue gun and an Old music CD Case that i had just laying around

Next is the lid to my Roach tub

All i did was take the old CD case and hot glued it to the lid of there tub

These next pictures show where there is open slots in the CD case to allow the humidity to escape the Cd case

Here is just a picture of the cotton balls soaking in the warm water

Lastly all i did was pull the cotton balls out of the warm water and squeezed them till about 85% or so of the water was out of the cotton balls. I then placed them in the old cd case and closed the lid. This pick shows how quickly the cd cased fogged over cuz of the warm water

Then i just placed the tub lid back on the Dubia tub and we will see what happens. I am going to check the humidity in about an hour and see how its looking.

Ingenious idea actually. Simple, and anyone could do it. Well done.

Thank you. As im finding out ya its helping in the dubia tub a little bit raised the humidity i think almost 5% so i need to make something a little bit larger scale. This would work for something a bit smaller then what i have.

If you lined the enclosure with the c.d. cases, it would work for a larger scale. But that would be alot of work to refill, and I'm sure there is a simpler solution. lol
