Leopard gecko's natural habitat
have you ever tried finding pictures of leopard geckos in their natural habitat? or even pictures of were they come from? well ever since i found out about leopard geckos i wanted to know what their true environment looked like. no matter how hard i searched online i couldn't find any pictures of their habitat. but tonight i was able to find a forum that had a person that posted pictures from a book. it was called eyelash geckos, and in the book it had pictures of were leopard geckos live! i was like FINALLY! lol so i thought i would share some of the pictures with you guys, i think it might help with the understanding of the no sand rule and what not. also i found that were leopard geckos live looks allot like where i live in utah lol i found that rather cool but anyways pictures..
as you can see were they live doesn't really have sand, it is mostly dry cracked dirt with dead shrubbery and rocks. so if you think about it, those who put leopard geckos in a cage knee deep in loose sand is about as correct as putting a ice skater in snow.

Re: Leopard gecko's natural habitat
The cute thing is, the hypo leo they show in the picture wouldn't be found in the wild.
Very good information, none the less!

Re: Leopard gecko's natural habitat
Very cool by the way. There needs to be more field studies of leopard geckos so we can better understand how they are in the wild. Majority of the studies and tests I've seen are done in captivity. Too bad that region is pretty much off limits to westerners these days.

Re: Leopard gecko's natural habitat
yay im so glad you guys like it, i was so happy to find something like this lol
and it took me a bit to think of a good comparison but i'm so glad you like it Kathryn
as for the book reference Becca here is a link to the book that the person said they got the pictures out of. its pretty pricey sadly but it looks like a good book.

Kodie i think who ever was writing the book was probably not willing to go hunting for leo's, so they just sat some pet leo's on the ground to take the pictures haha XD and i agree Mardy i wish there was more information on the leopard gecko.
