Re: racks and heat ?
I think heat cable is what people use in racks. But you need to use proper reptile heat cable bought from the petstore.
Heat is needed no matter what, because you need a hot side and a cool side for your leos in each tub.
I don't think using glass tubs is bad, but plastic tubs are probably lighter.
Racks are generally used for breeding mostly. It isn't really fair if you keep tons of leos in little tubs that are too small. If you were going to be keeping them in there long term, I would look for pretty big bins.
I asked about racks a few months ago, here is the thread if you want to look at the answers I got: http://www.leopardgeckoforum.com/t648-housing-geckos-in-rack-system

They call it flexwatt, and it's the go to heating source for any large scale heating.

Re: racks and heat ?
No, most rack systems all run on one thermostat, and each viv has it's own thermometer to check it's specific temps. This is really only recommended for experienced large scale breeders.
Though, I do caution you against this. Pro Exotics just lost 3,000 animals to an equipment failure in their warehouse. So, go ahead at your own risk.
