A Formal Introduction Empty A Formal Introduction

Post by calliecopter Thu Sep 15, 2011 5:14 pm

I guess I haven't introduced myself yet! My name's Callie, I'm from Arizona. I'm 20 years old, going to college for sign language interpreting, and I also work part-time at a credit union. I live with my parents, and I have 3 dogs, a cat, 3 tarantulas, and of course, my leopard gecko, Loki. I've posted all over the forums already, but I haven't formally introduced myself, and I feel like now's as good a time as any!

American Sign Language is way hard to learn, especially when trying to learn it by yourself! I really love it, but it's a LOT of work. And wow, lots of Arizonans! I am indeed going to the reptile show, next weekend! My friend is searching for a baby ball python, so we're going on Sunday. I definitely love this forum already, so I will be posting more in the future. Tucson is definitely great because it's low humidity, has a huge deaf population, and there are lots of reptile lovers!

hahah wow your town seems perfectly suited to you!! I wish mine was, I hate my town, and I don't really like England.. although I haven't experienced it all yet. I want to move to the US!

I bet it's different.. when I watch the signers at the bottom of some TV shows I get very confused Very Happy I learnt the ABC in american sign language from a video on youtube Very Happy so i can do that.. and i can't even remember the english version.

wowoowow! get some photos at the reptile show for us! *me* hahaha!

Haha, I definitely will take photos! The main reason English sign language and American sign language aren't similar is because when Thomas Gallaudet (the man who brought "official" sign language to America) went to England, they wouldn't share their sign language with him. So he went for France instead! I went to London in 2009 and I would just as soon live there, I thought it was GORGEOUS!

Haha, how funny! I just love big cities, even Phoenix. It's our capital and is GIANT. There are like, 4 or 5 large cities clustered into what is greater Phoenix. And I'm sure not ALL of England is like London, but it's still an interesting place to live! Not at all hot like it is here!
