Hi everyone I'm a new leopard gecko owner but I'm informed enough to know that calcium is vital for these little guys. However if I dust his food he turns his nose up at it but will happily take it when it's not dusted in calcium. Can anyone recommend a way I can get the calcium into him? Thanks Smile

Have you tried another brand of calcium? Certain brands may not appeal to your gecko.

I've tried exo- terra and Vetark but he doesn't like them. Is there any you recommend?

HI and welcome to the forum Smile There are a lot of threads on the forum about different suppliments. Maybe you could try using the search feature to find the ones that could be helpful. Also they do make a liquid calcium as well which you could put right in his water insted of dusting feeders, then you just need to make sure he is getting enough D3 and multi vit suppliment on top of that so he can actually absorb the calcium he is ingesting. You can also leave a little capful of the powdered calcium in teh viv and maybe he'll surprise you and lap it when he feels he needs it. I use repashy calcium plus icb, or you can also use T-Rex brand complete leopard gecko dust icb by sandfire foods (dependingon your location you may need to order from on line). Those are both all in 1 suppliments so you would need nothing in addition to either of those.

Thanks for the replys everyone I feel so welcomed. Is the liquid calcium easy to get a hold of because obviously I would like to get it as soon as possible Smile would it be something I would have to order into my local pet store?

You could try a bottle cap of calcium and look to diversify his diet with higher calcium content feeders. Theres a link in my signature to the nutritional values of feeders, if you want to peek at it. Wink

I may have over reacted slightly but I put a bottle cap of calcium in his vivarium and last night I saw him lap some up I was so happy Very Happy. Will still invest in the liquid calcium though Smile thanks for the advice everyone

That's good news! They do seem to know what they need and when they need it. Must be animal instinct. Just like we know when we are hungry or thirsty or tired. Its up to us as keepers to provide what they need and make it available for them. As long as it is there, they will be able to use/consume it when they need to.
