New Female with Dropped Tail, advice plz
Just got my first Leo today. A yearling female but she lost her tail a month or so ago. I was going to pass on her but she was so friendly and inquizative I could not walk away without her.
Just wondered how the tail will look when it has finished growing back. It is currently quite a big bulb at the end and very soft, will it harden up at all like the rest of her skin ?
Will try and post picture soon ......

I split this from the other thread you had posted it in so that you could get the individual attention you desirve and so as not to take the other thread off topic, but the majority of the info in that thread is the same that will be offered to you. There is a care sheet on taking care of leos with dropped tails here http://www.leopardgeckoforum.com/t1129-tail-loss-caresheet The tail will grow back in bulbous and chubby. It may stay soft, it may harden a bit but it certainly won't be like it's previous tail. I have heard that keeping the end of the tail moisturized with something like bag balm can help it grow back in more normally but haven't had any experience with droped tails. It certainly can't hurt imo. Hope this helps.

Thanks Kel,
I have looked at a few images on the net and a few show a bulbous tail like she has grown. I was disappointed when I first saw that she had a regen tail but for me she is a pet and looks are not everything.
She spent the first two hours looking around her new home and has now found a good spot to have a sleep. She is a bit nervous after her trip but did not hiss or back off when I put my hand in with her, she even gave me a lick. I plan to spend time getting her used to me further.
I had hoped to pick up a tank mate for her at the same time but when I checked they had sent a male instead of another female. Have to wait till next week for her to arrive now.
Hope I have not taken my thread too far off topic and I welcome any other information I can get.

You're welcome Paul. Personally I would hold off on getting a tank mate. Leos are solitary creatures and adding a tank mate would simply be adding competition for the best hiding space, the best heat spot and for food. Leos really do best on their own. They don't crave companionship. It could ruin your new gal's friendly outgoing temperament if you stress her out with a competing tank mate. YOU should be the only buddy she needs.
I would love to see pix of your new gal once you get around to taking some.
