PLEASE HELP! lighting hurting??
At night when I put the red night-light on Gomez, my new Leo, he is very active and loves laying on top of his rocks and hides. But as soon as I turn on his day-light, he hides. Is this normal? Or are his lights hurting his eyes? What should I do?? Please help!

Re: PLEASE HELP! lighting hurting??
what i use for a "day" light for my leo is just my normal desk lamp with a energy saving bulb that is only a 25 w and i sit it next to her cage pointing at the wall, leos only need a bit of light during the day to help them to determine the day and night cycles, so if your using a heat lamp then yes it is hurting his eyes. have you gotten a under tank heating pad yet spikey? that is very important. if the cage cold side gets under 70 i would get a blue night bulb to keep on 24/7 or a ceramic heat emitter.

leo's need a under tank heater to digest there food properly, I dont light my leos tank in the day she has enough natural light to determine day/night cycles the day light bulb may hurt your leos eyes. I use a few blue led's to light my leo's tank with during the evening.

leopards are crepsucular...meaning active during dusk and dawn...and somewhat at night. they rarely come out and roam during peak sunlight...the light may or may not 'hurt' thier eyes, but they certainly dont like bright lights.
