Newb has a question about lighting Empty Newb has a question about lighting

So I just bought a zilla desert set up kit from pet co cause it was on sale. I also bought a zilla desert fixture with a T8 uvb light. Is that bad to have a uvb light for a leo???

Their crepuscular, and don't need it. Also, they need heat mats and not lights for heat so they can digest their food.

Since you bought the desert kit, I know you've probably got them on sand. That's a big no no, you should get them on paper towels A.S.A.P. Then look into tiles as well.

The carpet is a breeding ground for bacteria, and cant be completely disinfected.

The UVB can be bad, because it will send their system into over drive for calcium with the vitamin D3 that is created. But, that takes long term exposure.

Slate tile, or ceramic tile, or peel and stick tile, or paper towels are the ideals.

Any of those will create a great habitat.
